Does anyone have a few minutes to play Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES) on an emulator and take me some screencaps of the slot machine mini-game?

Alternately you could play it on a Nintendo, on a TV, and take some photos?

Can anyone do it like, right now?

That'd be great thanks!!!!

*back to drawing*

EDIT: Thank you everyone, I think I got what I needed. And learned something along the way. Something about friendship, courage and... and something. The end!

just real quick, someone pointed out an extremely long (and illustrated!) article on Slate about Scott Pilgrim.

(article spoilers!) i think the author is correct in that Vol 3 is troubled, but i'm not sure he's correct as to why. we'll see how it goes with Vol 4!

EDIT: Here is an article about the article!

EDIT: My main thing here is that a reputable publication has done an in-depth article about my work, whether that article is full of insight (I think it has some) or bonkers (not for me to say). I'm flattered, etc.

After reading that, i went to a friend's house and on the TV were the Scream Awards, and there was tons of stuff about comics on them! What is this cultural mountain comics have climbed?

The Scream Awards had a disturbing effect on me. I got this feeling like we're all 14 years old and there are beautiful girls pretending to like us in order to get something they want from us. There's this weird air of fakeness and placation and softcore porn and the feeling that any minute now they'll all laugh in our faces, jump in the back of some jock's convertible, and drive away with our souls!!!

Admittedly I wasn't really paying attention and I just kept incredulously repeating phrases I heard: "COMICON?? FRANK MILLER??! BEST SUPERHERO???? ROBERT KIRKMAN!??!" Everyone definitely wanted me to shut up. Anyway, I know I saw Kirkman go up, but I think it was for Marvel Zombies, rather than his creator-owned work. Marvel Zombies wins over the Walking Dead?? Who do I payola for that kind of result? Plus they were showing unreleased footage from new movies?? It was like comicon all over again! It's creepy! (The Grind House footage looked sweet, though.)

Anyway, I'm disturbed by the whole thing, the new faux-legitimacy of comics, and I'm obviously this huge cynical jerk waiting for the bubble to burst. Or maybe I just have low self-esteem and a profound fear of success. I just hope they make my movie soon! ^_____^

If there was a Scott Pilgrim videogame

what would it be like?

my ideas:

1. 2D pixel graphics
2. side-scrolling fighting (see: double dragon)
3. with RPG and food elements (see: river city ransom)
4. with a dating sim included (see: japanese dating sim games)
5. the dating sim parts would have hilarious dialogue trees (see: monkey island)
6. it would also involve "rhythm game" mechanics (see: parappa the rapper, space channel 5, etc)
7. it would be kind of like Alex Kidd or something, you'd run around and fight dudes and go into subspace doors to play minigames! ha ha ha!

Note: there isn't going to be a Scott Pilgrim videogame, so don't worry.

Note 2: i was just playing Ninja Gaiden on the xbox, and i think it sucked. I quit after I died the first time, on level 2. I've been having more fun with Sega GT 2002. i like games where you don't have to die. i read this gaming flow stuff yesterday (courtesy Penny Arcade) and it was very interesting. too bad almost no designers actually think about these conceptual things because they're too busy designing scantily-clad sweet kid-sister tomboy vixen badass warrior whores.

EDIT: this was like the batgirl night of terror. and I just realized it's Friday the 13th. It went from 8 or 10 batgirls at bedtime to 40+ this morning. (and well past 100 this evening)

started because of http://www.livejournal.com/users/andiwatson/37925.html

a list of batgirls at http://www.livejournal.com/users/himynameisjamie/345568.html

I did mine after seeing Josh Lesnick's, just for record-keeping purposes. (And Meredith posted hers as I was scanning mine..)

EDIT AGAIN: i've gotten something like 75 new friendings just because of drawing batgirl. give me a break! that's cool, though, the magic of the internet and everything. if you've never seen my work, please buy Scott Pilgrim. If you have seen my work and have just newly discovered my livejournal, welcome. This is a totally public journal and it is linked from my website, but I guess most people miss it.

EDIT #3: [info]envertigo drew a cool batgirl based on my design.

I bought this yesterday! It collects uncanny x-men 199-213 and a bunch of other shit! John Romita Jr's early stuff, Barry Windsor Smith (that one where Wolverine fights Deathstrike and the little Power Pack girl is there for whatever reason), and some basically god awful Arthur Adams stuff (where they all go to Asgard and stupid shit goes down). Art Adams did the 90s before the 90s. It's gross, although he got better later. The JRJR and BWS stuff looks really cool in black and white. One of the issues is inked by P. Craig Russell, too, I think. And in the light of adulthood and artisthood, Dan Green is not as shitty an inker as I thought in grade 7.

I apologize for the nerd relapse; I'm just recapturing my childhood in a new convenient form, and it's fun. This is approximately where my interest in X-Men began, in a pile of comics in my cousin's closet. This stuff is from a few years before I actually started buying them myself (that was more like issue 225-ish, with Silvestri penciling). I might have to check what's in Vol 5, I didn't realize they were this far along already.

Rachel Grey-Summers was always like, one of my favourite characters, and this set has issue 202 (where the Beyonder challenges her to save the X-Men from Sentinels), and also 207 (I think, which is the full-issue fight of her versus Wolverine). OH YEAH! NERDVANA!

QUERY 1: I got fucking ad-ware up in my shit!

I have run AdAware multiple times, and it's all updated and everything, but I keep getting these popups. Internet Explorer windows pop up for free online poker and shit. (I don't even USE internet explorer, I use Opera, so it's really obvious that they are foreign popups.) Is there anything else I can use? Anyone got any tips?

QUERY 2: We are moving soon and we want to maybe switch to a wireless network.

I have a PC running XP (SP2) and Hope runs a Mac G4 on OSX. What kind of router would people recommend, and what kind of cards? Our current network (which has wires) has been working fine, we have a Linksys router -- it was shitty at first but eventually I figured out that I could upgrade the firmware, and it's been smooth sailing ever since. Something similar, ie smooth sailing, would be nice. But it would be nice to go wireless, because we'll have separate studios in the new house.
