keyboard birthday

  • Feb. 20th, 2006 at 10:39 PM
kitties
I got a new keyboard (for typing) and it will take me a while to get used to it. The space bar is a bit stickier (harder to press) than the old one. It is also one of them ergonomic dealies with the curve and the split in the middle. But it is very quiet and pretty and has handy special keys on it (and they actually work!). It has like pseudo-leather pads for my wrists too. I think overall it will make my life better.

February 21 is my birthday, and I'll be 27. In some parts of the world, I already am 27, but my part of the world isn't quite there yet. Anyway I have some pages to scan. I'll see you on the other side.

EDIT: small problem with my keyboard. It takes over the function keys (F1-F12), giving them basic functions like save, open, etc (many of which are insanely useless, like "reply"). In the process it destroys my Photoshop ACTIONS, which are crucial to my daily work!!! It only lets me remap them as one of the other useless functions (save, reply, etc) or disable the key entirely. There doesn't seem to be a way to reset the key to its original function without removing the keyboard driver entirely (if that even works). And Photoshop ONLY allows the use of F1-F12 for actions. (ctrl-F11 and F11 alone are treated the same by the keyboard, so that's no help either)

Any thoughts? Anybody? I like the keyboard otherwise, it's nice and ergo and quiet and all that...

O Horrible Grave! Once again She lurches toward you, fingers black and glistening with blood. Her belly is pressed against the ground and She groans as She fights with all Her might, waiting for the sweet moment when you weaken enough for Her to strike.

27 was when i started to truly freak out about getting old and my twenties were to soon be over. but by the time i was actually 30, i was over it and pretty cheery. so, pointless post. happy birthday!

i dunno, being married and owning a house and having a movie deal are kind of soothing the possible pains of my late 20s. i feel pretty damn accomplished for 27 right now, not that i want to brag about it much. anyway, my main worry is that i want to finish the scott pilgrim series before i hit 30. it'll just get sad after a while. :)

and good luck figuring out your keyboard! unfortunately, i have no expertise in that area.

Happy Birthday! You have been 27 in my part of the world for several hours! Unless you go by the Korean age system, wherein you would be like, halfway to 29 or something? I don't get it, either.

If you're using a microsoft ergonomic keyboard (likethis one, or am I way off) it probably has the "F-LOCK", feel free to just say "FSCK" everytime is screws up as it's absolutely horrid. Doesn't hitting that key and turning off the F-lock return your F1-F11 functions? As that's the way it usually works.

Oh and Happy Birthday, I can say that as i'm FROM THE FUTURE

Keyboards by standard HAVE to have function keys that perform f1-f12, hell you need F8 to install XP, so the f-lock key should be there, if it isn't take it back and worry about the state of computing.

YEAH! it has an flock and i didn't realize that's what it does. thanks a ton! yeah it's a microsoft ergo 4000.

remember this well, it's a "FSCK-LOCK", why? cause Microsoft are idiots. it's like they're making everyone remember with stupid decisions.

Another Problem which probably could have been solved with RTFM, but knowing those manuels it probably wasn't clear., but hey at least you can get back on track now, happy b-day again :)

Happy birthday! I think there might be a way to reassign the default macro commands for save/open and stuff in the keyboard's own menu program or something (or you can hack it, if you're super-uber-compu-literate), but other than that, I can't think of much, really...

Whatevs. Yay ergonomics!

For some unknown reason, I read that as "pseudo-leather pants".

Which also make a good birthday gift.

Happy birthday.

stacey's friend
Hey Bry,
This is Sarah, Stacey's friend and ex-roommate. I'm about to start reading Scott Pilgrim for the first time EVER, and I'm super-stoked. I also just bought my very first comic from Beguiling - "Babel" by David B. 'Tis awesome.
My boyfriend is an actor and desperately wants to play Scott in the feature film. Stacey thinks he'd suit the part well. He's too shy to ask you himself, though he has trepidatiously considered commenting here many a'time. You can learn more about him by reading his LJ (username greenavenger) or by reading the Falcon Beach website (I can't tell you his name here because he's got a couple of stalkers, but just ask Stace). Or you can just google him; there's tons of hits. He's had parts on Degrassi, and other noteable Canadian shows/films. He's also a writer, and is working on a comic series right now.
In his words: "I NEEEEED to play Scott Pilgrim."
So, yeah. I think Stacey told you that I've just recently discovered the colourful kingdom that is Comic Books. So much to learn... I'm excited to read both your and Hope's books.
Happy Birthday!

Re: stacey's friend
Hey Sarah
Stacey mentioned that you were ready to cash in on the whole graphic novel fad. I hope it works out for you. "Babel" is a pretty extreme place to start, but I know you are tough.
