have you...ahem...um...listened to it yet? (wink, cough)

Yeah... I realize that came across sounding silly. I keep listening to it despite initially figuring I'd hate it. (His last EP was utter garbage!) The first four songs on the album are really great.

i agree. Super D had me convinced that my hell-nor-high-water fandom days were over...and i am pleasantly surprised by how much i like the new album (which we aren't even supposed to be listening to yet, as it doesn't come out till the 26th).

(and i was gonna tell you the person to email for the link to the mp3s, but it seems you are sly like me.)

Oh, please don't say that. I managed to avoid picking up Disgaea way back when, my reason at the time being "I still haven't finished Dark Cloud 2 yet." I don't need any more temptations to pick that game up.

Although the game is two years old now... is it cheap?

I borrowed it from my brother. I don't think it's one of those discount games yet, and there's always the possibility it's out of print.

It's for math-heads! The story is stupid, but the system is incredibly deep. You'd get obsessed with it so fast. I advise you not to touch it with a two-hundred-foot pole.

It's out of print. Kiza was telling me that last time we saw it at GAME CENTRE down at Yonge and Bloor. I think they had it for 30 bucks or something there.

My brother collects RPGs, with a goal of having all the good ones. Especially out-of-print. He also has Phantom Brave and La Pucelle, which I might borrow after this one gets boring.

See, now I want to touch it so bad! Look what you've done! Hopefully the out-of-printness of it will prevent me from doing so.

It's not as "tactical" as FFT (I haven't played a tactical RPG that has been, even the GBA version), but it definitely has its own merits.

The thing I liked about FFT is that strategy almost always paid off, and the maps actually encouraged some form of forethought and tactical planning. Other strategy RPGs I've played tend to be unchallenging in that department (ie, best tactic is always to rush in and hit them until they die).

The main strength of Disgaea is the ludicrous potential of the numbers therein, and the ability to level up and tweak every character and item until they are exactly how you want them. The main joy comes not in seeing your strategy pay off, but in seeing how big the number that pops out of the guy's head when you kill him can go, I think. And I'm only at level 23! (out of thousands, plus you can transmigrate and start again from level 1 with more potential).

Aaaaa! Stop! You are an evil person! I must resist! I hear you can level your characters up to level 10,000? O_@

Also, have you seen Bengal's Disgaea fanart?

The character designs are lovely (although obviously "inspired" by FFT), although the actual characterization is super-lame, derivative, generic fantasy-anime bullshit. (At least so far, and I just finished the 4th episode.) Fortunately, you can skip most of the story segments.

Well, what else is new? Somehow I doubt anyone who would actually buy any kind of 'tactics' RPG would honestly be concerned with the plot.

No no no... DUDE. While Wu-Tang, Public Enemy, and Dre are hype (don't forget NWA and DMX niggah), what you really need to is to cut the shit and get down with the Dip. DIP SET BITCH! Purple City (Crips and Bloods together, blue and red, makes Purple City) Bird Game. Harlem Diplomats are the new hotness. Killer Cam, Santana, etc. Crips and Bloods as one. Even Kanye West is Dip Set (he's considered the black sheep of Purple City because he's the only one that's commercial). Dip Set has the hardest rhymns and is completely underground, but they're produced by Rockafella Records.

Plus they majorly hate on 50 and Murder Mace, who are total pussies. The only guy worth a fuck in G-Unit is Blackhand, and that's only because of his almost comical reliance on stabbing as a solution to any problem (during a blackout, he got scared that they were going to be killed up, so he started randomly stabbing, and stabbed 50).

dude, Disgaea totally fucking rocks! i picked that game up on a whim (because ATLUS almost always has kick-ass games) and it's easily one've my favorites. ever. you should look into picking up Phantom Brave, which is sort of the sequel. i haven't really started playing it yet, cuz i wanna beat Disgaea first, but it's just as amazing....

which chapter are you on in Disgaea...?
