Onion AV Club Interviews Me

  • Nov. 12th, 2007 at 9:59 PM
kitties
An interview around the release of Scott Pilgrim Gets It Together, conducted by Jason Heller. Here it is!

While I'm at it, the AV Club also reviewed said book the other day. It's right under Nicholas Gurewitch's brilliant first collection of the Perry Bible Fellowship.

(I originally posted this on Saturday, but the interview disappeared - apparently it had accidentally been posted a few days early. It's now officially up.)

"the series began in 2004 after O'Malley's beautiful, brooding debut Lost At Sea sank without a trace"?

Um. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Lost at Sea a modest success, wasn't it? I mean, you know, indie comics-sized modest.

They're indulging in a bit of exaggeration-for-effect. It was probably a success in that we maybe broke even. It's continued to sell over time, too.

Yeah, I'd kind of suspected the interviewer just couldn't resist making that "sank without a trace" pun...

It's really exciting to watch the rising tide of Scott Pilgrim press happening. All of it has got me more and more excited for the book (but then, I'm easily manipulated, I suppose). Can't wait for Wednesday!

Any chance of that wicked Stills Kim wallpaper you were talking about seeing the light of day?

Good AV club interview btw.

Those fanboy radio fellas sure are enthusiastic.

i finally read this, pretty interesting. i thought it was funny the comparison with lost at sea, since the only reason i originally picked up scott pilgrim was that i liked lost at sea. i didn't even think the description sounded too interesting, i just said "well, it's the guy who did lost at sea, so i guess i'll check it out."
