If you are in a comic store next week (TO BUY MY BOOK!) and have an extra ten dollars in your pocket, you might pick up ZOMBIES CALLING, by Faith Erin Hicks, published by SLG. I haven't talked to her in a while but Faith and I go way back, and she's a friend of the family, as it were. If you like Scott Pilgrim, you'd probably enjoy her book about ordinary students battling a zombie invasion.

I haven't read it yet, but I'm sure it's going to be pretty great. It's got an awesome title, a great cover design, and a girl with pink hair in a union jack top beating the crap out of something! How can you go wrong?

Man, I remember FEH from back in the D101 days. It'll be a pleasure to pick this up.

Yes, everyone should totally buy this book.

I designed the title, so I'm biased, but seriously, everyone should buy it anyway.

Don't give me your shoulder pads, WOman! Or I'll something something...

I've known her for like 45 years...

Faith Erin Hicks is an awesome cartoonist. I can't wait to get that book !

beating the crap out of something...with what looks like a fork, nice. :)

Weeeee!

Hey could you also call a spork, a foon? Or is that just too dorky?

I preordered this as soon as it was available to preorder. I'm surprised to hear you two go way back. Apparently, comics are a very close circle of cartooning compatriots.

Comics is a very long story.

I've always heard that comics is a very incestuous industry, and that's hard for me to fathom being out in Montana. I'm reading through the latest Best American Comics, and literally five of the first six comics (I think) all reference the artists of every other comic.

Oooh I really dug her web comics, I'll have to pick that up!

Faith is the new Mal [by which i mean, breakout Canadian comicker who's really clever and talented]

I think ZC will be a real surprise hit for most, a pleasant and fun surprise that is

i like this pitch. i haven't talked to this girl in years, and i haven't read this book, but that's one snazzy cover design!

Wow, that was really nice of you, Mal! ^_^ I know we haven't talked in about a billion years, but I've thought about you a bit over that time, and have always felt sort of sad that we lost touch (I kept thinking I should email you and congratulate you on becoming So Damn Famous, but honestly... I wasn't even sure you'd remember me!). You were my first comics friend. I really appreciate the plug; you didn't have to do that, and it was really sweet you did.

Keep well, and congrats on everything. I noticed SP4 was coming out on the same date as my book and, well, I thought it was a pretty amusing coincidence.

PS. Say hi to Hope for me!

Hey Faith!
Unfortunately I'm nowhere near a comic store at the moment, but I'll pick your book up at mine-and-hope's signing in Chapel Hill in a couple weeks.

We're old comics buddies... we can be new comics buddies again too!

I would like that. ^_^
