Comics Festival 2007


This is one of two covers for COMICS FESTIVAL 2007, a Free Comic Book Day comic book. I think the other cover will be by Darwyn Cooke. Look for it on Free Comic Book Day, Saturday May 5th (I think it's the day after the new Spider-Man movie comes out or some such). It will have some other miscellaneous comics by me inside, and a bunch of other short stories and strips by exciting creators such as Hope Larson and Chip Zdarsky.

ADDED NOTE: There are a LOT of free comics for stores to choose from this year, so if you want to get this, please check with your local comic store as soon as possible to make sure they're ordering some.

Chris is very busy today, so this has been a public service announcement on his behalf.

Also, I'm planning to do promo postcards featuring this image (without all the text). Look for those at APE and MoCCA, probably.

Here you go. To save you trouble in the future, if you're on XP you might want to grab microsoft's image-resizer power toy or there's always The Gimp if you want a complete, free, image editor.

I have it, and it IS pretty darn good, but I also get laughed at for playing it. Hey, if it's what you've gotta suffer, right?!

I also made a desktop out of it, but I see somebody beat me to it! :)

It's literally the greatest game I've ever played. I bought my boyfriend a PS3 for Christmas, but I might have to get myself a Wii for my birthday because how else will I play the new Cooking Mama?

It's really fantastic. I bet Hope won't even let you get a chance to play it, she'll love it so much. Tell her she can make gyoza perfect, just like mama.

Yeah but it helps. Seriously. I made my first dumplings a few weeks ago, and I totally knew how to seal them from cooking mama. No word of a lie. I was just all swoosh with the water and then foldy mc folds and crimp crimp crimp done!

Tamago, though. Totally easy in the game. Totally hard in real life.

I'm not very good. It's so hard. It's nearly impossible. I'm willing to bet that 99% of what you eat at restaurants is bought pre made frozen. MAYBE they slice it themselves.

I made it once. I dropped some on the floor. Sensei had to fix it. In order to make it, you need to hold the pan vertically to encourage the tamago to flip itself down and you have to just not let it drop. But you're pretty much holding the pan almost upside down.

I sometimes wish I was a little old Japanese woman in Hokkaido. I bet I'd know how to make it then.

I have a friend who was unemployed for like six months and he refused to buy himself a wii until he had a job. He was afraid he'd just sit around with it all the time.

That is truly fantastic.

I love the palette and the big thick outlines on everybody.

Is Comics Festival 2K7 going to have 'flip-covers' or whatever? I seem to remember the other one I have (with Darwyn Cooke kids running) does. Or maybe I'm crazy.

Also, I am excited to see you play on Saturday and then awkwardly walk past and pretend I don't recognize who you are because we aren't freinds and honestly there are only so many times I can say "Um, I like your comics" before it's just stalking.
