kitties
1. Make the panels really small and the space between the panels as large as possible.

2. Make the word balloons really big.

3. Backgrounds? No. No backgrounds. (Fill that space with word balloons instead?)

You've exposed my secret for doing Astronaut Elementary. Lots of talking. No backgrounds!

Funny! But take a look at older comics espically pre 1950. They filled the pages with at least four by four strips, but every panel had a word balloon and a ton of dialouge. So maybe your on to something!

Also, make it "ironic" by putting a very small word in the middle of the balloon.

In this case, I'd put "Cleveland?!?"

You should just start recycling panels. It would be TOTALLY VOLTRON!

You know, if you had made that close-up bigger, you wouldn't have had to draw that mystery box or the speed lines.

But then you have to letter that shit, holmes.

And plus, this book is set in Canada. Canada's where all the snow lives, right? You shouldn't even have to draw panel borders.

Hope beat me to it. But I was gonna say:

4. Ink out all your backgrounds and watch people talk to you about "spotting blacks" and "negative space."
[info]hopelarson wrote:

They'll only talk about negative space if you leave your backgrounds WHITE. ;)

i could even do without the lines/speed-lines in the back.

But that's how you know the ACTION is happening!

Lines tell us that something is moving...or that someone's voice is angry...
