NOW sketchbook

I did a comic for Toronto's NOW Magazine recently. It is vaguely autumn-themed. For those of you who missed that, here it is. (Above: sketchbook from development of same.)

NOW Magazine - My Toronto, Oct 2006

In the paper, they cut the logo, and trimmed it a little at the bottom. I thought I drew it the right size (including the logo) but maybe I did it wrong? I'm not that good at math, I guess? They also added a blurb. Here is the blurb text:

MY TORONTO, by Bryan Lee O'Malley
Created for this issue, this is the latest adventure of Scott Pilgrim, the girl-troubled slacker hero of three Toronto-set graphic novels by Bryan Lee O'Malley, and (hopefully) an upcoming movie by the guys who made Shaun of the Dead.

Then there was some text about my signing that week at the Beguiling, which is now over. Thanks to everyone who came out, though.

I like that Kim seems to be wearing a white mage hoodie.

Our Halloween wasn't any fun and you know it! :)

Small coincidence: we were with a girl dressed as a white mage.

I read the NOW comic at a friend's house but then forgot to grab a copy for myself before they were gone. Now I can print out a copy to keep forever, and that's awesome.

Also, I was the guy who showed up late to the signing like a total jerk when you were about to leave. I just wanted to say thanks for sticking around and signing my books. That was really cool of you.

I knew who you were!
I also forgot to get a copy. Oh well. We'll always have the memories.

I always heard Stephen Stills's voice to be the same as the guy who did McGurk in "Home Movies."

That was a nice, short, and sweet comic. Moments like these are awesome to me. Just good ole Scott's band goodness.

This makes me even more eager for volume 4. Keep up the amazing good work, you crazy bastid.

This will be printed in the back of volume 4 for posterity, right?
