The colour separation disaster on the cover--do you think it's a printing mistake or a clever nod towards the content of the book?

I read that Asimov book back in junior high. It's pretty freaky... it's got this race of alien blobs who have three genders and sort of melt into each other for sex...

i loved the shit out of that little unicorn. for the better part of my early adolescence, i thought unico had been a figment of my childhood imagination as no one i knew had ever heard of it. in hindsight, they were all probably too busy working the fields and hiding from twisters. i should have known.
