edgar interview
Just noticed this one, a little interview with Edgar Wright where they kind of tricked him into talking about Scott Pilgrim a bit, on CHUD.com, here. This is the most he's said about it publicly, which is kind of exciting! woooooOOooOOOOo! (The interviewer, Devin Faraci, also interviewed me at MoCCA and is a really nice guy. I also communicated with him telepathically at this really loud fabulous party in San Diego, telepathy being the only method of communication available at the time.)

This movie is going to be 50,000 different kinds of awesome. I'm casting my vote now for Patrick Fugit as Scott.

that is awesome! I think I am going to try and telepathically audition for the Scott Pilgrim movie now. Getting a nose bleed from this is normal, right?

Totally off topic but did you see the big art book isle-sized-booth-thing at Comic Con? I forget the name of the place but it's there every year. On one wall they had books by big name, famous comic creators with the last name of the creator printed on white cards in front of their sections.
I don't remember the names but it was like: Miller, Kirby, Ross, Ditko, O'Malley, etc.
You had your own section! Considering how many books by as many different creators they had I thought that was pretty awesome. I was going to get you a picture of it but I suck and forgot.

Nuts. Now I really wish I had that picture.
Oh well, there will be more white tagged O'Malley sections around next year.

I think he was originally dreaming about the Oni Press offices being staffed by Kim Pines, but he transferred that to the Oni booth at San Diego.

Am I wrong in thinking that if it is his next movie its possible it could be out before volume 6? If so are the movie and books gonna still have the same ending or has it already kinda switched up in your mind. Im very into seeing the movie and think it will be super wicked I just dont want it to ruin the ending of the 6th book for me. But I do want to see Honest Ed's implode on the big screen sooo bad

Ah! When I met Edgar, I was wearing the Sex Bob-bombs shirt that I bought, and he pointed at my shirt and was very excited to see it. We both mentioned the movie in very hopeful tones.

Man, I hope the best for this movie. The casting is gonna be exciting to watch, I hope they nail it.

that's really cool, did you stand in that huge line? my real movie-star moment was when i went around the huge line to say bye to edgar. not having to wait in line equals superstardom!

I did stand in that huge line! It was long and huge! However, I was towards the front of the line, so once the line got moving, it didn't take too long.

It must've felt very suave walking around everyone to talk to the big director, my megastar friend.

Wow, it's absolutely the best that he's not only a huge fan of your work, but he also wants to do some parts ala Sin City.

I told him that an Edgar Wright Scott Pilgrim film would TRUMP any other film ever made, for which he laughed really nervously. I then apologized, and rephrased the previous statement to "very good."

Should we expect the creator cameo, similar to Stan Lee?

it's funny cos i was just watching part of sin city yesterday and thinking about how that style would work for the fights and stuff in scott pilgrim, but how i was hoping they would do actual locations for most of the normal stuff, and that's exactly what he said in the interview. so that's cool. yeah we've talked about the story a bit, but the visuals for the film version are all locked away in edgar's head for the moment, and i just hear little ideas here and there.

I actually brought up the movie at the Hot Fuzz panel at SDCC on Sunday, and he sounded very excited about it. Of course, he kept remarking that it was still far off, but he brought you up a few other times during the panel, especially when people asked him for recommendations on comic books.

-Steve!
