I haven't seen the artwork in the book yet, but I'm of the opinion that seeing guest interpretations is always a good thing. As an artist myself, the idea of you or Corey or someone equally as cool doodling my characters in the back of my book is totally sweet.

And honestly, is the guest art really taking away pages that would have contained more Scott, or are the extras just that?

Yeah, it's not like I made the story shorter to accomodate the guest art. Maybe I'm just being a dick and trying to see who thinks that way!

You'd be surprised the number of people who think this way.

As someone who wrote a recurring backup story in a modestly popular comic book, I grew quite accustomed to the malice I was faced with by people who legitimately thought that my two page story was taking away from the regular story instead of, in fact, being there instead of two ads.

And for the most part, that was the only feedback we ever got.

Anyway, I'm glad you're doing right by your friends and compatriots by sticking their art in the back.

I vote that next time you include a drawing by my good friend and partner in crime, Nate Bellegarde--[info]fetorpse--since he's working on one anyway.

if he does that thing he seems to be working on, hell yes, it'll go in the book.

I haven't really thought much about others. I was just emailing Ross Campbell and he mentioned he wanted to draw something and I thought maybe he could do it official-like. And I've been meaning to ask Jeffrey Rowland one day when he's not busy ha ha ha ha.

And yeah, I really kinda figured everyone would be all "why's this book shorter than the last book what's all this bonus crap where's my story pages"

Dude, your backups in Invincible were The Shiznit. More than anything else, they made the book worth buying- if I were only after Invincible, I'd have just bought the trades, but that's not the 'whole experience'. You made the monthly comic mean something to me, and in this era of wait-for-the-trades, that's no mean feat. I did end up buying the first three trades because I missed a bunch of the early issues. It is to my regret that I didn't get to see the Nate & Benito show in those issues.

Sorry I never wrote in at the time... I guess I took you guys for granted. :-( *sniff*

Thanks for the kind words, man. And not to spam up the place, but I should probably mention that the new book by Nate and me, Hector Plasm: De Mortuis, hits stores tomorrow.

Breaded with a Crisp Veneer
Ooh, I've been looking forward to that... thanks for the heads-up. I liked him in the back-ups, although my heart will always most truly belong to the Deep-Fried Duo, Monkey & Pirate. I will always hear his chimpy chatter. You and Nate had a great synergy on those strips- the humor of your writings and his drawings complimented each other perfectly.

I think I asked my local comics shop to pull a copy for me back when Hector Plasm was announced... I'll have to see if that happened or whatever.

i dug the extra stuff, although i would have liked to see maybe a process of how you do a page or pre production works of the book. kinda like extras on a dvd.

yeah, i wouldn't mind doing something like that either. I'm bad at getting that stuff together, but maybe I can think about it in advance...

I'd like to fill that blank with "why, me of course."

Barring that, Darwyn Cooke or Andi Watson.

I haven't read the books yet, may I chime in? I've seen Lesnick's contribution ripped out of context, and still thought it was excellent. Guest artists always bring new audiences. No harm in that!

I'm even more excited to read the books now. Hopefuly this week.

Fortunately, your poll also gives the option for people to not care. That's free choice at it's finest.

But I went with the masses... I like the volume 3.
